When it comes to smartphone choices, there are so many brands at different cost and hardware specs. In this article I want to mention about the Motorola One 5G UW Ace that I recently bought for under $200. For this budget, is it a good device or there is better alternatives? Let’s see all about it’s positives and negatives in this article.
What you get in Motorola One 5G UW Ace
This is a mid range device with a big screen and a decent hardware. Motorola phones run on Android so basically its all android devices. Moto 5G UW Ace comes with Snapdragon 765 chipset, 4/6 GB RAM and 64/128 GB Storage. This phone has a humungous battery at 5000 mAh which is excellent with a mid range processor. Literally I was getting over 2 days of battery life which is only possible with mid range devices.
Moto UW Ace Display, Camera and Speakers
It has a large screen of 6.7 inches which is IPS LCD display. Screen is bright and clear with ample pixel density. Screen Also supports HDR10 which is a nice bonus. It has a 90 Hz refresh rate to make your experience smoother. Camera’s on Moto One UW Ace is very good with a 48MP rear camera, 8 MP ultrawide and a 2 MP macro lens to give various shooting modes. It supports 4K video at 30 fps and Full HD video at 30 or 60 fps. It’s front camera is 16 MP and does a decent job capturing selfies.
Speakers are decent and loud and good for an average use to consumer media content on the phone. It’s not having any bass but It has 5G support and other important aspects like USB-C charging, 3.5mm headphone jack (yes it’s still a nice to have feature) and SD card support to extend storage.
Who Should Buy Moto One 5G UW Ace
If you are someone who needs a great battery life and a bigger display at relatively a cheaper price, this is a great device to buy. Motorola One 5G UW Ace checks most of the boxes like USB-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, decent stereo speakers, SD card slot, bigger battery and a clean OS from Google. This is one of the android devices which doesn’t add heavy customizations and additional apps to bloat the Android experience.
Negatives in Motorola One 5G UW Ace
As there are various advantages with this phone, there are some downsides too. It’s 4GB RAM is not great with 2022 standards so you can feel some slowdown if you are using multiple apps at once. It’s LCD display is not a color accurate display and if you are used to LED panels, this will seem like a downgrade. But you can’t expect more from a $200 midrange device.
Software updates are slower and not supported for a long period for Motorola devices. So you may not get security patches or OS upgrades as they release. As it has a mid range processor, Gaming is not great with this device and also video recording at 4K makes the device warmer. It’s macro camera is kind of a gimmick and wouldn’t add much value.
Final Thoughts
Its a good device overall comparing to its cost and what it offers but you can find some good alternatives too. Some of other phones to consider over Moto One UW Ace are Pixel 4A 5G or Pixel 5A for a little more budget. You can also consider some of Samsung’s A series phones that gives you a decent value.
