What to expect in Apple iPhone 14
Every September Apple releases new generation of iPhones and iPhone 14 is expected to release on September 7th 2022. Along with the iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8 is expected to be announced as well. Based on the leaks that I found online, below are the features we can expect in iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. We can expect higher refresh displays in iPhone 14 at least in Pro and Pro Max models same like iPhone 13 Pro models. They might add on screen fingerprint like Samsung Phones this year.
Samsung and other Android manufacturers have already included higher refresh rate screens a couple of years ago. Apple being Apple waits for any new tech to mature before implementing it in its range of devices. You can hardly find any half baked features in Apple devices.
According to leaks found in different tech forums, iPhone 14 Pro models may feature a pill-shaped camera cutout at the top of the display with the notch removed. To accommodate this change, Face ID hardware will be moved under the display. This is the first time we’ve heard about the possibility of a pill-shaped camera cut out at the top of the display instead of a circular hole-punch cutout that was originally rumored.
iPhone 14 Hardware Expectations
New enhanced A14 bionic chip should have better optimization thus providing better battery life. We can also expect more RAM in the higher end Pro and Pro Max models. Battery capacity is expected to increase and with a better hardware to get more juice out of it. It is rumored that Apple planning a 6.1″ iPhone 14 Pro and a 6.7″ iPhone 14 Pro Max for release in September of this year. iPhone 14 line up is expected to have a glass and metal frames like its previous build.
As of now it appears that these models will continue to have a notch, with a pill-shaped camera cutout limited to Pro models. Long awaited USB-C port in iPhones will be a huge game changer but its a big question if Apple dumps the lightning port and adapt to the industry standard USB-C. With regards to accessories, we cannot expect anything more than the standard USB-C to lightning cable and paperwork as Apple stopped adding charging brick and headphones for a couple of years now.
Final Thoughts on iPhone 14
Apple is reportedly planning to add a 48MP camera lens to the iPhone next year. The 48MP camera will be limited to iPhone 14 Pro models and it will allow for 8K video recording, up from 4K currently. The next flagship series in the iPhone 14 line-up, will come with up to 2 TB of storage. Also more likely it will have a display with better refresh rates similar it’s Android counterparts.
Apple will adopt QLC flash storage for next year’s iPhone and thanks to the newer storage technology, it will increase capacity to 2 TB. The upcoming iPhone 14 in September 2022 is expected to run on iOS 16 and pack a 3,815mAh battery with higher watt fast-charging support.
