Google Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch in 2022

We have a new reveal of the Pixel 7 Pro along with confirmation of the specifications. Also multiple prototypes leaked of the google pixel 7 pro along with more information on the specs. First story of the day, we’ve got news on a pixel 7 ultra to accompany the standard Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 pro. Kyle Bradshaw from 9 to 5 google has discovered references to a new device within the code for the android open source project. It was codenamed G10 and so far every G code name has been related to a pixel.

Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch Release Date

Google is sending out invites for its 2022 Fall event where Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch will be released. The event is scheduled for 10 AM on October 6, 2022. New Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be having Tensor chip G2 and a new Titan security chip.

Google Pixel 7 Display

There are references to Exynos meaning it should be a tensor chipset. Pixel 7 got a 120 Hz display with a resolution of 1440 x 3120. So we know it’s going to be a smaller device and not a tablet. We’ve got to go on with this new code more people are speculating that it could be for the pixel 7 ultra. We’re pretty much unsure at this time. We’ve got confirmations of the pixel 7 pro’s display and this was found within code for the android 13 beta. The code reveals that the pixel 7 pro is going to come with the same resolution of 1440 x 3120.

Pixel 6 Pro can reach a max brightness of 500 nits in manual mode whereas the pixel 7 pro has 600 nits now in auto mode. And Pixel 7 Pro is showing a 1000 nits of max brightness and compared to the Pixel 6 pro’s 800 nits. This is a huge improvement. We also get confirmation of additional features such as HDR10 and support for HDL images.

Google Pixel 7 CPU and Specs

We’ve got news on the chipset and looking through the boot logs of a demo device, it was discovered that the chipset is going to maintain 2+2+4 CPU configuration and they’re sticking with the previous generations arm v8 cores. In simple terms the tensor 2 is not going to be a top of the range chipset so it’s not going to compete in terms of benchmark performance.

If you can compare it with something like the snapdragon 8 gen 1 now this was always to be expected and with google in control of both the software as well as a hardware there is room for a lot more optimization. In terms of both battery as well as performance, it’s the same strategy as the 6 series and for the pixel 7 and the pixel 7 pro. Google will be focusing on delivering a phone that works well and it also takes great photo and video. We got multiple prototypes of the pixel 7 that leaked out in the wild and the first was the pixel 7 which appeared on an eBay listing.

Google Pixel 7 Camera Design

You can see it’s got a similar design to its predecessor on both the front as well as the rear camera cutout. However its slightly different and it’s got a pill shape between the two lenses and a thicker aluminum bar for the camera module. now we then had multiple images of the pixel 7 pro and these were posted via a telegram group and again there are differences to its predecessor.

But there are also a lot more similarities on the front it looks pretty much identical to the 6 pro. It got a curved full screen display with the punch hole selfie camera in the top center on the rear of the pixel 7 pro. However we’ve got a punch hole over the first two cameras along with an additional telephoto camera that was always to be expected with the pixel 7 and the pixel 7 pro.

We can pretty much just expect refinements over the previous version and not a complete redesign pretty much the same as we saw with the 5 compared to the pixel 4. While no launch date has been set in stone yet it’s likely that we will see them in mid-October as that’s the usual time for the pixel launch. For those of you excited for the google pixel 7 and the pixel 7 pro we’re now going to run through the full specs design and the expected pricing.

Google Pixel 7 Specs and expected Pricing

It’s expected to come with a 6.3 inch AMOLED display it’s going to be a full HD+ resolution of 1080 by 2400. It’s going to have a 90 hertz refresh rate it will be a flat display with HDR10 plus and protected by gorilla glass victors plus on the front. We get a punch hole camera in the top center of the display. This is going to be an 8 megapixel wide angle camera on the rear it’s a dual camera setup.

What's New in Google Pixel 7

While the exact cameras are still unknown it’s likely going to be a 50 megapixel wide angle and a 12 megapixel ultrawide camera. Its all going to be powered by Google’s new in-house chipset the google tensor 2 and it’s likely going to come with 8 gigabytes of ram and a choice of 128/256 or 512GB storage. When it comes to battery capacity we’re expecting a slight reduction due to the change in the size so we’re predicting a 4,600 mAh battery.

But hopefully we will see some improvements in fast charging. It’s going to be coming with wi-fi 6e Bluetooth 5 and ultra wideband support and the phone is of course going to ship with the new android 13. Now no pricing information has been leaked yet but it’s expected that it won’t be changing meaning that the pixel 7 is going to start from around $600.

Google Pixel 7 Pro Specs and expected Pricing

With the pixel 7 pro we get a 6.7 inch curved AMOLED display, with 120 Hz and HDR10+ and a quad HD plus resolution of 1440 by 3120. Front display is going to be protected by gorilla glass victors plus. We’re also expecting a 12 megapixel wide angle camera in the form of a punch hole camera in the top center of the display and then on the rear. We’ve got another triple camera setup the rear cameras are in a slightly different module to last year but we expect a 50 megapixel wide angle a 12 megapixel ultra wide and a 48 megapixel telephoto its predecessor came with four times optical zoom.

We’re hoping to see this improved to either five times or ten times zoom it’s of course going to be powered by Google’s new tensor2 chipset and it’s going to come with a choice of 128/256 or 512GB storage. This phone will be with 12 GB of ram it’s coming with a 5 000 mAh battery. Again, we hope to see improvements on fast charging but it will at least be 30 watts. It’s coming with Bluetooth 5 wi-fi 6e in ultra wideband support and it will of course be shipping with android 13. Launch price again is expected to remain the same as before meaning the pixel 7 pro should be starting from around $900.

Final Thoughts on Pixel 7 Pre-release

Now overall the pixel 7 and the pixel 7 pro are looking like incredible smartphones. Google is keeping a similar design that proved very popular last year and they’re focusing on refinements rather than radical changes. Of course the phone’s going to be launching in October 2022. So as we approach the launch more and more specs are going to be confirmed and I’ll share them as they are out.
